About Us

The McHugh Insurance Agency Inc was founded by Richard E. McHugh in 1956.  The agency insured farms and residences in the Manhattan Illinois area.  Through acquisitions of smaller agencies and dedicated service, Mr. McHugh built his agency from the ground up.

Retiring from active management in 1983, the agency was purchased by Michael J. McHugh, Dick's son, who incorporated the agency in 1984.

Active in both the community and the IIA of Illinois, the Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois, Michael served as president of the Joliet/Will County Chapter from 1999 through 2003.  In 2009, Michael was elected to the IIA of Illinois Board of Directors, as representative of Region 4.  In 2011, Mike was named Regional Director of the Year, at the IIA of Illinois' State Convention, by the staff and executive board of the State Association.
